Two big Concerts and Great Experiences during Three Busy Days!

It all started Monday 16th February 2015 with a wonderful concert by the youth orchestra, Siam Sinfonietta. Fiw from Immanuel Music School, were for the first time allowed to perform on a concert with this great orchestra. A very big challenge since one of the pieces they were going to play was the extremely difficult "Rite of Spring" by Stravinsky. But Fiw is not a boy giving up easily. He had never played an instrument before he was 17, but now he can play many, and he also likes to compose music. Cello he has learned to play mostly by himself, since we don't have any cello teacher in Immanuel Music School, and Fiw has no money to buy expensive lessons from elsewhere.

Here you can see the  whole orchestra on Monday 16th February

Solveig, Fiw and Dag

Fiw together with conductor Somtow Sucharitkul

Solveig and Dag was also representing Immanuel at the concert by singing in the choir at "Polovetsian Dances" by A. Borovin, That was fun, but this day we were primarily proud of Fiw.
Now we pass on to the other great concert this week: The Resurrection Symphony by Mahler on Wednesday 18th February 2015. We were 8 members from Immanuel Lutheran Church choir joining the big choir of 130 singers for that concert.

All together there were about 240 musicians playing and singing together. The Siam Philharmonic orchestra had more than hundred musicians this day, and filled the room with contrasting beautiful silent melodies and majestic fortissimo music, and it was great to be in a choir with so many good singers.

Here is a video of the whole Mahler Concert. (To hear the Choir forward to 1:09:44)

The mother of these two girls also gripped some of the mood and feelings of the place and the day through the following pictures:
The early arrival, exitement and waiting..
the feeling of the big concert hall

the beautiful art

outside

The enormous stairs up to the concert hall

The passages with purple, soft carpets

to be together with opera stars..

to get new friends

and to learn from the great conductor.

We are all very happy and thankful to conductor Somtow Sucharitkul and Opera Siam for letting us join this big music festival.
The big choir had groups of singers from many different choirs and places. In the end of the concert each choir chose one person to receive an award. Yok, the youngest singer of the choir, was our representative, and she managed to do her job in a charming way as you can see on the picturses below.

At last I want to introduce you to Immanuel Music School's newest member, Best. He is from Buriram, and came to us two weeks ago, just in time to learn the bass part of Mahler 2, so he got a great start. Best can play some guitar, bass and drums, and he wants to study music at university. To be able to do so, he came to us to learn. It is exiting to see what the future will bring. Maybe he could learn to play double bass? But first we need an instrument. Immanuel Music School has not yet any double basses. They are quite expensive.
In Immanuel Music School we try to help children and youths who want to learn music, but don't have money to pay for music lessons to fulfill their dreams. If you or anyone you know want to contribute by teaching or in any other ways, you are very welcome.
